Auto repair shop marketing: getting the right cars in the bays

2 min read · Updated

The short answer

Auto repair shop marketing works when drivers can see you fix their problem on their kind of car. Build pages for the repairs people search for, list the makes you service, show certifications like ASE and your warranty on work, and ask for reviews that name the car and the fix. Keep hours and wait-time details current on Google.

Pages that match the problem

  • Brakes, oil changes, check-engine diagnostics, transmissions, AC, tires and alignment.
  • The makes you specialize in, if you do: European, Japanese, diesel, hybrid.
  • Inspections, if your state requires them and you're licensed to do them.

Trust signals drivers look for

  • ASE certification for your technicians.
  • Your warranty on parts and labor.
  • Whether you give written estimates before starting work.
  • Shuttle, loaner or waiting-room details.

Reviews that name the car

"Fixed the AC on my 2014 Accord the same day" tells the next Accord owner exactly what they need to know. Ask for reviews when the customer picks up the car, and reply to each one. One of the sites on our Work page is an automotive business.

Questions

How do I get reviews from customers who pay and leave?

Hand over a card with your review QR code at pickup, and send the link by text the same day.

Does my Google profile need appointment links?

If you take bookings online, yes. Many drivers book from Maps.

Can independent shops service cars under warranty?

Generally, yes. In the US, federal law says using an independent shop doesn't by itself void a manufacturer's warranty. Saying so answers a common worry.
