Salon marketing: booking, stylists and a portfolio people can find

2 min read · Updated

The short answer

Salon marketing works when a client can find the service, see who does it well, and book in a few taps. Put your service menu on the site as text, give each stylist a page with their work, add your booking link to your Google profile, and keep your portfolio on your own site as well as on Instagram.

What clients look for

  • The service: balayage, extensions, bridal, color correction, cuts.
  • Who does it, and examples of their work.
  • Price or a starting price, if you publish it.
  • How to book, and how soon.

Instagram isn't enough

Many salons keep their portfolio only on Instagram. Search engines and AI assistants read it poorly, and you don't control it. Put your best work on your own site too, labeled with the service, and link the two.

Bridal and events

Bridal hair and makeup is its own search, often months ahead, and often for on-location work. Give it its own page with packages, travel area and how far ahead to book. One of the sites on our Work page is a bridal hair and makeup business.

Questions

Should I add a booking link to Google?

Yes. Google Business Profile supports booking links, and clients use them.

Do stylists need their own pages?

It helps. Clients often choose the stylist before the salon.

How do I get more salon reviews?

Ask at checkout with your direct link, and reply to each one.
