A boat is a hull, its engines and a trailer. Make sure AI knows all three.
For boat dealers and brokers. Buyers are starting to ask AI assistants for a boat by type, length, power and hours, and where to see one. Lehvel keeps each boat's package, hours and status accurate and current, so the assistant describes it correctly and sends the buyer to you.
Every boat is a package
A car has one identity. A boat for sale usually has three: the hull with its HIN, each engine with its own serial, model year and hours, and the trailer with its own VIN. A buyer's question touches all of them.
| Compared | Part of the package | What a buyer's assistant needs |
|---|---|---|
| Hull | Type (center console, pontoon, bowrider, cruiser), length overall, hull material, HIN, model year | |
| Engines | How many, outboard or sterndrive, make and horsepower of each, and hours per engine | |
| Trailer | Included or not, and its VIN when it is | |
| Status | Your stock, a brokerage listing or sold, and when that was last confirmed | |
| Next step | Who arranges a sea trial or survey, and how to reach them |
Used boats live or die on the details
Most boats change hands used, so the details that sell them are the ones that age: engine hours, the last service, what's included. A listing with one hours figure on a twin-engine boat makes an assistant guess. A boat that sold last month and still shows on three sites makes it wrong.
Brokerage adds another layer. The same boat can be listed by you and co-brokered elsewhere, so a buyer's assistant needs to know whose boat it is and who to call.
Your record, not a marketplace's copy
Marketplaces are building their own AI search. Buyers will use it, and they'll also ask general assistants like ChatGPT directly. Both answer from copies of your listings, made at different times.
The copy is only as good as the source. When your own record of each boat carries hours per engine, the package and a confirmed status with a date, every copy has something right to match.
Unknown stays unknown. If one engine's hours aren't stated, the assistant says so and sends the buyer to you. It never adds up what it doesn't have.
One request, five steps
A buyer asks: “Find a center console around 24 feet, 250 horsepower or more, under 300 engine hours, with a trailer, and put me in touch.” For your boat to be the answer, five things have to be true.
| Compared | The assistant's job | What has to be true about your dealership |
|---|---|---|
| Discover | Find dealers and brokers with center consoles | AI knows your locations and what you sell and broker |
| Understand | Read each boat as a package | Length, engines, horsepower per engine and the trailer are in text on the listing |
| Qualify | Check length, power and hours | Hours are stated per engine, with when they were read |
| Contact | Find who arranges a sea trial | Whether it's your stock or a brokerage boat, and who handles it |
| Act | Send an inquiry about that boat | A structured inquiry reaches the right person with the boat attached. It's a question, not an offer |
What Lehvel does
One record per boat. Hull, engines and trailer as one package, each with its own identifier, read from your listings and then your feed. Hours are kept per engine, with when they were read.
Status with a time on it. Your stock, brokerage or sold, answered only from a current reading. An old reading becomes “ask the dealer.”
One record of the dealership. Locations, hours, brands, service, slips or storage if you offer them, and how to reach sales. We call it Business Truth.
A check on what AI actually says. We ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity about your dealership and specific boats, and compare their answers with your record.
A controlled way to ask. One action: an inquiry about a boat that reaches your team. It never makes an offer, books a sea trial or commits to a price.
What's live and what isn't
Live today. Websites, search presence, checks of what the major AI assistants say about a business, and one managed record of the business behind it.
Building. The boat record with the hull, engines and trailer, a source and a time on every fact, read-only answers for assistants, and one inquiry that lands with your team. We want one marine dealer to build it with first.
Not on the table yet. Offers, deposits, sea-trial bookings or trade values through an AI assistant.
Find out where you stand
Check My Business shows what AI assistants say about your dealership today, where your listings disagree, and what to fix first. A person at Lehvel reviews the findings before they're sent. No credit card required.
Questions
We broker as well as sell from stock. Does this work for brokerage listings?
Yes. Each boat says whose it is: your stock or a brokerage listing, and who handles a showing. An assistant tells the buyer which, rather than treating every boat the same.
Do we need to replace our DMS or listing tools?
No. We read the listings you already publish, then the feed your DMS or website already produces.
Are you competing with the boat marketplaces?
No. They'll keep carrying your listings. Lehvel keeps your own record right, so their copies and the AI assistants have the correct facts to work from.
Can an AI assistant make an offer or book a sea trial through Lehvel?
No. The one action is an inquiry a person on your team answers.
