How to post a Google review (instructions to send your customers)

By · 2 min read · Updated

The short answer

To post a Google review, search the business on Google or open it in Google Maps, tap Reviews, then Write a review. Pick a star rating, write what happened, add photos if you like, and tap Post. You need to be signed in to a Google account. Reviews usually appear within minutes, though some are held for checks.

On a phone

  1. Open Google Maps and search the business name.
  2. Scroll to Reviews and tap Write a review.
  3. Choose the stars, write a few sentences, add photos.
  4. Tap Post.

If the review doesn't show

  • It may be held while Google checks it. Wait a day.
  • Reviews with links, phone numbers or copied text are often filtered.
  • Several reviews from the same Wi-Fi at the same time can look suspicious. Ask customers to post from home.

For business owners

Most customers who don't leave a review simply didn't know where to click. Send your direct review link by text, not these steps. The link opens the review box straight away. You'll find it in your Business Profile under Ask for reviews.
