How to add a user to your Google Business Profile

By · 2 min read · Updated

The short answer

To add a user to your Google Business Profile, search your business while signed in, open the three-dot menu, choose Business Profile settings, then People and access. Click Add, enter their email address and choose Owner or Manager. They get an invitation to accept. Give agencies and staff Manager access; keep ownership yourself.

Owner or manager?

  • Primary owner: one per profile. Can remove anyone, including other owners.
  • Owner: everything a manager can do, plus adding and removing users.
  • Manager: edits the profile, replies to reviews and posts. Can't remove owners or delete the profile.

When someone leaves

Remove them the same day from People and access. If a former agency or employee is the primary owner and won't hand it back, request access through Google from your own account. Google will contact the owner, and if they don't answer you can usually claim it.

Questions

Does the person need a Gmail address?

They need a Google account. It can use any email address.

Can several staff share one login?

Don't. Add each person with their own Google account so you can remove them one at a time.

Can I transfer primary ownership?

Yes. Make the new person an owner first, then transfer primary ownership in People and access.
