How it works.

It starts with a 40-minute call. Then I spend time at your place learning how it runs, I get things live quickly, and we keep meeting. Here's how that went at one supplier.

  1. We talk for 40 minutes.Phone or video. You tell me what happens at your place every day: the calls, the quotes, the invoices, the stuff that eats your time. You don't need to prepare anything.
  2. I come learn how your place runs.I come to you. I sit with you and the people who know how things really run, as many times as it takes. I gather everything: catalogs, price lists, spec sheets, old web pages, paper quotes, photos. Hundreds of pages become one organized record of your business, and you check every fact before anything uses it.
  3. Things start going live fast. The first fixes go live within days. At one supplier the new website was up on day ten, and after that something new went live most days: product pages, a quote tool, posts from the shop floor.
  4. We keep meeting. We meet a lot, most at the start, and we look at the live work, not a slide deck. You say what's wrong and it's usually fixed that day. Every call you make gets written down with a date, so nothing gets decided twice. Send a photo or a clip from the floor and it turns into a post.

How it actually went

The first nine weeks at one supplier.

A family-owned building-products company. When we started, their website was gone and what they knew lived in paper catalogs, PDFs and the owners' heads.

  1. Day 1Sat down with the owners at their shop. Pulled their old website back from the Internet Archive and fixed the wrong hours and names on their listings.
  2. Days 2–9We met most days, some days three times. We went through their paper catalog page by page with the owner who knows the technical side cold.
  3. Day 10New website live.
  4. Day 22Twelve days after launch, the first lead found them through search on its own. It was a four-window job.
  5. Weeks 5–8Hundreds of pages of manufacturer catalogs and spec sheets became product pages a buyer, and ChatGPT, can read. The office got a quote tool that works from a photo of a paper quote.
  6. Week 9Clips from the shop floor turned into posts the same week. At a morning meeting one of the owners said the site looked too black and white, so we put the color back that morning.
  • About 50working sessions in nine weeks
  • About 290changes shipped
  • 36 of 50days after launch with something new live

Counted from our meeting notes and the site's change history. I don't use their name.

AI and people

What AI does, and what people do.

AI does the legwork

  • Answers new leads and drafts replies
  • Keeps track of who needs a follow-up
  • Drafts posts, emails and notes in your voice
  • Watches how you show up on Google and ChatGPT
  • Handles the repetitive computer work

People make the calls

  • You and I decide what gets fixed first
  • You or I okay anything before a customer sees it
  • I check the work and keep it running
  • You can stop anything at any time

Nothing goes out to a customer until you or I okay it.

Your time

About five focused hours a week.

That's the time it takes for you to tell me how things work, answer my questions and okay what goes out. You don't need to be technical. You need to be straight with me about how the place runs.

Grab 40 minutes on my calendar.

Tell me what's eating your week. I'll tell you what I'd fix first.
